RESEARCH DESCRIPTION

Dr Hoit’s research interests include 1) understanding the determinants of atrial remodeling in response to left atrial and left ventricular dysfunction and the relation between atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation, 2) characterizing of genetic variability in complex cardiovascular traits and dissecting their genetic and physiologic basis, 3) assessing the cardiovascular phenotype in a variety of rodent models, and 4) studying endothelial dysfunction in a genetically-defined cohort of patients with obstructive sleep apnea using brachial ultrasound.
