Shyue-An Chan, Tomonori Igarashi, Krekwit Shinlapawittayatorn, and Jane Kim are recognized for their research presentations at the departmental retreat at Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH. Each person receives $100.
September, 25, 2009: New Funds to Develop X-ray Crystallography & Biophysics Awarded to Profs. Gill/Boron
Assist. Prof. Gill receives letter of award--from Chancellor Eric Fingerhut and Governor Ted Strickland--on behalf of the Ohio Board of Regents. This award of the amount $359K matches a Navy's award of $359K and a departmental allocation of $360K. In sum, over one million dollars is budgeted for scientific equipment.
This is in addition to the award last year, where Profs. Gill & Boron were awarded over 1 million dollars in a similar three way match.
Prof Gill says that "The award goes a long way toward developing the infrastructure for X-ray Crystallography and Biophysics here at CWRU. Our Robotic laboratory is a vital resource for Ohio research."

Case Western Reserve University Ranked Ohio's Best in U.S. News Rankings for 14th Consecutive Year
Case Western Reserve University remains the only Ohio institution among the nation's top 50 national universities as ranked by U.S. News & World Report.
The university ranks 41st in the publication's annual "America's Best Colleges 2010" undergraduate rankings released Thursday, August 20. Case Western Reserve also ranked 41st last year, but this time improved its overall score by one point (to 60, out of 100).
Case Western Reserve continues to be the top-rated university in Ohio and has led all Ohio institutions in national and state rankings for 14 consecutive years.

The School of Medicine is pleased to announce that Professor George Dubyak has been award the title
Master Teacher.
Others awarded this academic year include:
Robert Bonomo (Department of Medicine),
Michael Dell (Department of Pediatrics),
Barbara Freeman (Department of Anatomy),
Nicholas Ziats (Department of Pathology).
These individuals have, over a
long period of time and with sustained effort, contributed to innovation
and excellence in medical and/or graduate education. They have
consistently been highly rated by their students and admired by their
peers. Many have won several awards for teaching. They have
spent substantial effort in teaching, and assisting others in becoming
better teachers. Congratulations!
