Hometown: Mae Hong Son, Thailand

I feel so enthusiastic every time I learn new techniques and I have learned new things everyday. For new students interested in medical research, I think our department is the great place to start. With our strong academic training and great research environment, students get to learn with enjoyment.

NICHOLAS COURTNEY, PHD

NICHOLAS (NICK) COURTNEY

Hometown: Toledo, Ohio

My research is aimed at better understanding catecholamine signaling between neurons. This area of research is interesting because it has implications of many important human conditions such as stress, addiction, depression, Parkinson’s disease, and schizophrenia. What really motivates me about my research is that I have a sense of ownership over it.

AHLAM I. SALAMEH, PHD

AHLAM IBRAHIM SALAMEH

Hometown: Amman, the capital of Jordan

I am excited about my project because I am learning a range of techniques from imaging, to molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell culture. Being a graduate student here exposes me to different disciplines of physiology and biomedical research from genomics, proteomics and computational modeling.
