University Circle

University Circle got its name from the "end of the line" turnaround of the Euclid Avenue trolley service between downtown and the Circle, making its turn near what is now The Children's Museum of Cleveland and by the school that is today Case Western Reserve University. More than 16,000 students daily come to the Circle to pursue their academic interests at Case Western Reserve University and other highly regarded schools, conservatories, and colleges. The many cultural attractions of University Circle include The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Cleveland Museum of Natural History with the new Shafran Planetarium, The Cleveland Botanical Gardens, and The Western Reserve Historical Society which houses the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum with its nationally known collection of vintage automobiles and aircraft. Live entertainment venues include Severance Hall home of the internationally renowned Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Institute of Music, The Cleveland Music School Settlement, and The Cleveland Play House. University Circle institutions also join artistic forces several times a year to mount popular events including Holiday CircleFest and the Parade the Circle Celebration.
